Taste of San Antonio set for Oct. 4-8
Annual event showcases city’s culinary diversity,
benefits high school and college culinary arts programs

SAN ANTONIO, TX. – The San Antonio Restaurant Association hosts its 32nd annual Taste of San Antonio Oct. 4-8, 2008, at various venues throughout the Alamo City. On Saturday, Oct. 4, from 12:00 to 10:00 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 5, from 12:00 to 9:00 p.m., the Taste of San Antonio Expo takes place at Market Square and features samples from area restaurants, catering companies and food manufacturers, as well as Texas wineries and beverage distributors.
Admission is FREE, and includes children’s entertainment, live music, industry-related vendor booths and demonstrations. Food and beverage costs are nominal, with a percentage of every sale dedicated to culinary arts education scholarships and funding for area high school culinary arts programs. Restaurateurs or industry vendors who would like a booth at the Expo may download the participation form at the bottom of this home page (pdf format) and return to the San Antonio Restaurant Association. Historic Sunset Station, located at 1174 E. Commerce Street, hosts a culinary arts symposium for local high school students and the American Culinary Federation’s Lone Star Challenge, a chefs’ competition, on Tuesday, Oct. 7, beginning at 8:30 a.m. The winner of the Lone Star Challenge will be announced during the Showcase Dinner, which takes place from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 8, at Pearl Stable, 312 Pearl Parkway.
This event features a celebrity chef demonstrating his or her talents while guests enjoy the same menu during this sit-down dinner and reception. Tables for eight cost $1,600 or $2,500, and individual tickets are $200.
